Legal To Run Red Lights
--- Illinois: Lawmakers in Illinois stayed busy this year. For one, they passed a law that gives motorcyclists the go-ahead to run red lights. Motorcycles and bicycles aren’t usually heavy enough to trigger ground sensors that switch traffic lights from red to green so many two-wheeled motorists stay stuck at intersections and have to wait for a larger vehicle to come. Under the new measure, when a motorcycle comes up to a red light or a left-turn arrow and waits for two minutes or more for the light to change, they will be able to legally proceed if the coast is clear.

Federal court strikes down Illinois ban on carrying concealed weapons
In a victory for gun rights advocates, a federal appeals court on Tuesday struck down Illinois' ban on carrying concealed weapons -- the only total concealed-carry ban in the country.
The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals gave state lawmakers six months to come up with their own version of the law that legalizes concealed carry.
"We're extremely pleased with the ruling," Illinois State Rifle Association leader Richard Pearson said. "Now that the court has ruled ... we will work as soon as possible with legislators to craft a concealed-carry bill for the state of Illinois."
The 2-1 decision marks a huge win for gun rights advocates who have argued that the ban on concealed weapons violates the U.S. Constitution's Second Amendment and what they see as citizens' right to carry guns for self-defense.
A new law could be in place by January, Pearson said. A bill has already been written by Rep. Brandon Phelps that includes background checks, field provisions and other issues.
"Christmas came early for law-abiding gun owners," said Phelps, whose proposed legislation came within three votes of passing in 2011.
"I said on the floor, `A lot of people who voted against this, one of these days, you're going to wish you did, because of all the limitations and the safety precautions we put in this bill, because one of these days, the court's going to rule and you're not going to like the ruling.' Today's the day. The court's pretty much said there's no restrictions," he said.
Judge Richard Posner wrote in the court's majority opinion that the state "had to provide us with more than merely a rational basis for believing that its uniquely sweeping ban is justified by an increase in public safety. It has failed to meet this burden."
He continued: "The theoretical and empirical evidence (which overall is inconclusive) is consistent with concluding that a right to carry firearms in public may promote self-defense."
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn, who favors strict gun control laws and proposed an assault weapons ban earlier this year that lawmakers defeated, has vowed to again bring legislation that would prohibit the sale or possession of semi-automatic rifles and other guns.
Attorney General Lisa Madigan's office, which is responsible for defending the state's laws, said it was reviewing the ruling and would comment later Tuesday.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Sticking to their guns: Marines place $22.5M order for the Colt .45 M1911
It’s been called the greatest handgun ever made, and it has
barely changed sine 1911, when the legendary John Browning designed it
especially for the U.S. Military.
And now, the Colt .45 M1911 is making a big comeback, now that the U.S. Marines have placed a $22.5 million order for the Connecticut-made pistols.
The gun, which has been wielded on film by John Wayne and in real life by Sgt. Alvin York and Maj. Audie Murphy, was the standard-issue sidearm in the military for decades, until it was replaced by the Beretta M9 in 1985.
"It just became an iconic part of military and American history,"
Gerry Dinkel, CEO and president of Colt Defense, told FoxNews.com.
The gun, one of the most successful pistols ever used at Camp Perry's National Matches, a competition known to be the main world event in artillery sports, has barely changed since it's creation. Dinkel says that shows the gun's "elegant design" just can't be improved on. And firearms experts agree.
"You can’t beat a .45 cartridge," Jack Lewis, firearms director for Cowan's Auctions, told FoxNews.com. "Some things are hard to replace," he said.
Colt Defense, based in Hartford, Conn., will supply as many as 12,000 of the 200,000 U.S. Marines with semi-automatic, tan-colored M45 Close Quarter Battle Pistols, and they will include spare parts and logistical support. The gun has long been the weapon of choice for special operations agents, thanks to its reliability and the stopping power of its massive bullets.
"I'm really glad that they're keeping it in the American economy," Lewis, who used the gun while he was in the armed forces, said. "I was quite upset when they went to the Beretta," Lewis said.
Some reports suggest Marines are not happy with their main Beretta M9s for their lack of accuracy and stopping power. With M1911's now supplying Special Ops, growing interest may lead to a better solution.
"To have the 1911 selected again for U. S. Forces 101 years after its initial introduction is just an incredible testament to the timeless design and effectiveness of the Colt 1911," Dinkel said. "This is truly a gratifying contract award."

Tsunami Harley-Davidsion to be preserved as memorial to the tragedy at company's headquarters
A Harley-Davidson motorcycle swept 4,000 miles across the Pacific ocean in the aftermath of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami of March 11, 2011 will be displayed at the company’s museum in Milwaukee as a memorial to the tragedy, it was announced today.
The 2004 FXSTB Softail Night Train was discovered on the coast of British Columbia by Canadian Peter Mark on April 18, 2012 inside of a cargo van container along with several other items. Using the still attached Japanese license plates, the company was able to track down its owner, Ikuo Yokoyama, who is still living in temporary housing after losing his own home in the disaster.
Harley-Davidson offered to ship the bike back to him, but Yokoyama instead requested that it be preserved to honor those whose lives were lost or affected by the natural disaster.
"It is truly amazing that my Harley-Davidson motorcycle was recovered in Canada after drifting for more than a year," Yokoyama said in a press release. "I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt appreciation to Peter Mark, the finder of my motorcycle. Due to circumstances caused by the disaster, I have been so far unable to visit him in Canada to convey my gratitude.”
Although mostly intact, the bike is severely dented and rusted after being battered by the tsunami and spending more than a year at sea.
"The Harley-Davidson Museum is honored to receive this amazing motorcycle to ensure that its condition is preserved and can be displayed as a memorial to the Japan Tsunami tragedy," said Bill Davidson, Vice President of the Harley-Davidson Museum in a press release.

Two Things....
One, I still have that trailer I pulled behind the Heritage when we went shooting at the Pauly's farm if you guys ever want to use it for a trip. I can even help you with a hitch if need be...
Two, I know I don't come around enough to ask for a favor, but life is busy, always, and I don't even feel like I spend enough time with my family, so its hard for me to justify hanging with the boys, but if you could find it in your hearts, I would like to plan a weekend to finish my hard tail. I have my sporty road worthy and I am just going to use the frame that I have already purchased. It is a "sporty" frame set up for a small evo, a springer front end, a mounted and balanced rear tire and I think I am going to buy another fatty tire and wheel for the front. I figured if I painted the frame in advance that a good weekend with all hands on deck, could swap everything needed from the sporty to the hardtail. It was his idea....

Rockstar states that its energy drinks are the world’s most powerful, providing an incredible energy boost for those who lead active and exhausting lifestyles, from athletes to rock stars. Rockstar sponsors a lot of events like Surf, Skate, Snow, MX, BMX, Off-Road, MotoGP, Rally, Wake, MMA, Bull Riding, Bands, DJs, Live Music and has already collaborated with several custom builders to create energy themed custom motorcycles.
Their most recent collaboration with the custom motorcycle industry is with UK based Shaw Harley-Davidson. The company commissioned the HD Dealer to build “something really cool that would appeal to all audiences, from the younger generation to those who have been around motorcycles for many years.” Steve Willis, Team Principal of Shaw Speed & Custom, the Harley dealership custom division, was in charge of this project.
Up to the challenge, the crew pulled apart a 2011 stock XR1200, the Harley model inspired by the legendary XR750, the king of the gritty American Flat Track Scene, and took inspiration from Motocross and BMX to produce the Rockstar MXR featured here. Got a springer front end, now very confused.
I got a 2" under DNA chrome springer front end today for $200 off Craigslist. Got home, mocked it up, and am like now what? That 21" speedmaster looks real gay on that wide front end.
Should I go all skinny 1" frame and 21" wheels front and rear and run the a different front end and worry about breaking it on my aggressive?
Should I springer front end and run 16" wheels with 5" tires front and rear on a 1" diameter frame?
Should I run the springer front and 16" wheels with 5" tires front and rear on a thicker frame, more exile style?
Should I buy a buell and build a crazy one off (not redneck mutant)super aggressive bobber with the buell front end and motor?
Should I go ahead with 18" apes. I much prefer apes because they look bad ass and actually make you feel like you are riding a motorcycle, or go with drag bars or clamps on to match my riding style? I plan ride like an asshole on a cool bike that I think its ok to double as a dirtbike on. I just know that that skinny tire looks stupid on this springer front end. I am not using these apes either, they too wide. Here are pictures of my bike as it sits and a skinny fucker and an exile and buell...
